PROGRAMA DE LA ASIGNATURA

Presentación

Global governance brings together diverse actors to coordinate collective action at the level of the planet. The goal of global governance, roughly defined, is to provide global public goods, particularly peace and security, justice and mediation systems for conflict, functioning markets and unified standards for trade and industry. The increasing interdependence between States and the effect of globalization insofar affects the structure of the sovereignty of States as proposed by Keohane (2001) and Reinicke (1998) who analyzed the process stating that States don ́t compete politically but tend to cooperate more among themselves. Today these entities are affected by the intersection of ideas, the sense of social values, the continuous-flow of financial capital flows and other production factors such as technology, situation that affects the cultural milieu that profess the States as is suggested by the authors Huntington (1997) and Rosenberg (2004). This situation has led to a growing shift in the international system, particularly due to the presence of new international actors, which gradually generate influence the content of the international agenda.

Objetivo de Aprendizaje

To study the contemporary dynamics of international relations through the changes introduced in the international agenda by the action and activity of new players,and according to this new dynamism it is explored their level of influence in international politics game and how new rules introduced by civil society affects international relations.

Unidad 3: The markets and politics: Geo-economics, emerging markets, interaction corporations, states and international organizations, global economy.

Unidad 4: New threats: Cybersecurity.

Unidad 5: Transnational Organized Crime.

Unidad 6: Governance and development: Global public goods, international cooperation, climate change, millennium.

Unidad 7: development goals.

Unidad 8: Climate Change: Environmental policies, agreements.

Unidad 9: International Migrations.

Unidad 10: The United Nations System.

Unidad 11: Reform and continuity in international institutions.
