PROGRAMA DE LA ASIGNATURA

Presentación

Si se tiene en cuenta el hecho innegable de que el Inglés es hoy la lengua más extendida en el mundo, especialmente en los negocios y en la comunicación técnica, es fácil deducir su importancia a nivel personal como elemento de cultura y a nivel profesional como recurso indispensable para los profesionales de todos los campos. La asignatura de Inglés entró, pues, a formar parte del pensum en todas las facultades con el sistema de créditos debido a la necesidad inminente de que los estudiantes dentro de su formación académica recibieran instrucción en una lengua extranjera. Se optó por el inglés por ser la lengua en la cual se maneja en el mundo en el ámbito internacional académico, comunicativo y laboral.

El estudio de Inglés, como el de cualquier otra lengua, es esencialmente acumulativo. Por lo tanto, conviene adelantarlo por niveles en forma gradual y sucesiva. En nuestro caso, el proceso completo se estudia en seis niveles durante la carrera y se aplica a todas las áreas del conocimiento, teniendo en cuenta que es un inglés cotidiano. Ese uso cotidiano del Inglés abre opciones a aquellos alumnos que tengan interés y posibilidad de realizar estudios en universidades en el exterior en las cuales se exige tener dominio del Inglés.

Objetivo de Aprendizaje

Al finalizar el programa el estudiante estará en capacidad a nivel Conversacional de interactuar con un interlocutor haciendo uso de preguntas, empleando expresiones útiles y ampliando y expresando su opinión en diferentes tiempos verbales temas como:

 Descripción de personas, lugares, estilos de vida, costumbres, comportamientos, tecnología, deportes, actividades de tiempo libre, planes.

 Expresar opiniones, deseos, gustos, sentimientos.

 Tratar temas diversos como cultura, música, actualidad, política, economía.

A nivel Lectura los estudiantes estarán en capacidad de enfrentarse a textos de diversos tipos, como historias cortas, resúmenes de obra clásica, extractos de noticias, reportes históricos, tomados como soporte para extraer de ellos información específica, inferir la opinión del escritor, adquirir vocabulario, asumir posiciones criticas frente a los textos formulando preguntas y debatiendo sobre los mismos, desarrollar estrategias de lectura, etc.

A nivel Escritura el estudiante estará en capacidad de realizar resúmenes, citar autores, expresar opiniones, completar cuadros, llenar formatos, escribir cartas de tipo personal, párrafos coherentes y ensayos cortos.

Evaluación Formativa

El programa hace énfasis en el uso cotidiano del inglés y tiene un enfoque comunicativo que desarrolla las cuatro habilidades lingüísticas: Escucha, habla, escritura y lectura. En esta metodología, el rol del maestro es el de ser guía y administrador en la clase y el de los alumnos es ser parte activa y responsable del proceso en enseñanza-aprendizaje no solamente dentro del aula sino también fuera de ella.


Dentro de la metodología, el profesor estará motivando a los estudiantes para que utilicen su pensamiento crítico como parte integral de las habilidades mencionadas anteriormente. El objetivo principal está centrado en la comunicación. Se busca consolidar la lengua a través de los temas en cada uno de los textos de manera que le permita al profesor aprovechar la información cultural del material y establecer así conexiones a nivel lingüístico, ya que estos contenidos reflejan un lenguaje de trabajo diario y útil.


Los estudiantes podrán expresar sus opiniones, experiencias e ideas con el fin de contextualizar y personalizar los temas haciendo las clases más reales. También se creará una atmósfera en el salón de clases que le permita al alumno tomar riesgos participando activamente y de manera natural en un espacio propicio y adecuado que no lo intimide.


El maestro monitoreará el desempeño de sus estudiantes y para así mejorar sus fortalezas y disminuir sus debilidades en cualquiera de las competencias lingüísticas.
