La asignatura de Bioprospección y Bioensayos pretende introducir al alumno en los diferentes aspectos relacionados con la valoración y el uso de la biodiversidad. Esta asignatura presenta al estudiante los antecedentes, desarrollo, avances y perspectivas de la investigación multidisciplinaria en bioprospección que se realiza a nivel mundial y a nivel local
Con el desarrollo de esta asignatura se busca que los estudiantes:
a)Desarrollen criterios y habilidades para reconocer las diferentes aplicaciones y usos de la biodiversidad tropical.
b)Conozcan las técnicas y herramientas analíticas necesarias para desarrollar actividades de bioprospección.
c)Profundicen en los aspectos más relevantes hasta hoy conocidos de la bioprospección, área interdisciplinaria de las ciencias químicas y biológicas.
d)Aprendan cuáles son los aspectos fundamentales a tener en cuenta cuando se realizan investigaciones en el área de bioprospección.

Se busca la orientación de un proceso permanente, en el cual la calificación es complementaria. Las pruebas son material de investigación para orientar la pedagogía hacia la resolución de problemas en la comprensión de los conceptos. El error se convierte en el punto de partida para una reflexión.Durante el semestre, el docente entregará a la Facultad tres calificaciones, cada una de ellas con el mismo porcentaje de 33.3%. En los dos primeros cortes, los aspectos a evaluar serán las diversas presentaciones orales, quizes y parciales. En el último corte se evaluará la propuesta de investigación y la presentación de la misma. Al comienzo del periodo académico el docente deberá explicar claramente qué unidades se cubrirán cada semana y de qué actividades y tipos de evaluación se obtendrán las notas correspondientes
